NEW ALBUM 'BREATH'
COMING SOON

Released
2024

Based on the beloved Jewish folk song, Erev Shel Shoshanim, where the lovers meet in the garden to declare their love, in this version, embelished with the musicality of the world of flamenco, Farnaz spekeaso of a lover that calls the beloved to themselves, so they may reunite and rediscover their love and their commonalities like their language and their lost love. The world burns around us and we are but witnesses to it. What can we do other than wishing that love may find its way back to the hearts of those who commit atrocities beyond our imagination? Those who commit unthinkable atrocities in our name, in the name of a religion or an ideology? We may feel helpless but at least we can strive to bring love and kindness to out
immediate surrounding so love can endure when its time to heal.

Of loss and longing, and the hope of a woman scorned, abandoned but still in love, waiting,  and yearning for the beloved to return. Even when the conversation between her heart and her mind eventually leads to her accepting that he is not coming back and still she waits. The song is also a commentary on the psychological toll abusive relationships can take on victims where despite all the evidence, the abused continues to return to the dynamic and pine for the abuser's affection.

Moments are bare, and it up to you to dress them, either by giving up or by resilience. This is choosing life after thinking about suicide.

A reimagined of the 1980 hit by Freydoon Foroughi, Yar speaks of unity, and how should stand shoulder to shoulder to oppose and fight tyranny when it wishes to divide and conquer us. A reference to the empty seats in schools each time a student is taken away as political prisoner or is killed in Iran, this rendition is a direct response to the “woman, life, freedom” uprising of 2022 in Iran.
